Okay, even after having watched the marathon of all seven seasons of America's Next Top Model off and on this last week (parts of all seven days it was running), the double entendre in the question I'm using as my title today only just now hit me. Damn, I am slow sometimes! Yet I have the courage to share my density with you. Ah, marvel at my braveness.
And yes, for those of you not following, you read right, all seven ANTM seasons replayed in their entirety on VH1 this week. Meaning what, exactly, you wonder?
Meaning we got to see the progression of Tyra's wardrobe: as her weight has increased (and some out there have said ballooned, which I think is totally unfair, since even now she just looks like a normal if very tall girl), her dresses have become more and more corseted, ever more constrictingly cinched in at the waist.
Meaning we got to revisit some of the shallowest women ever to appear in reality tv, as well as some of the most genuine, all at one go.
Meaning we got to remember how many ANTM girls actually made it into episodes of Veronica Mars (3 so far, and Kim was the gayest and the best, of course), One Tree Hill (lovely and inappropriate Caridee), and Kevin Hill (a short-lived show that didn't even finish a season on the defunct UPN, so who cares who got on?).
Meaning we got to set up Next Top Model Australia, which is apparently debuting on VH1 soon. If it's anything like Next Top Model Britain, I am prepared to be disappointed. I was hoping, Anglophile that I am, for more literate banter with the set from Britain but got much of the same vapid twaddle, just with different accents. And less cultural diversity, which is kind of the point about ANTM. So a bust all around.
Meaning I was once again shocked that this show has prospered for seven seasons and is now THE powerhouse of the CW and has viewers ranging from my sister to my father which, let me assure you, is a range that represents the extremes of the culture/knowledge continuum.
Ah, Tyra-baby, we, like, totally luv ya sista!
