We interrupt our regularly scheduled programming...

...to announce the arrival of Baby E! He is here, in all his (for now) not sleeping glory, breastfeeding like a champ (he wins the gold medal in this event, while Toddler J didn't even make the qualifying rounds) and settling in at home. Pictures and stories to follow soon, of course, but the stats are these: born 8 lbs. 4.4 ounces and 21 inches long at 5:51pm on Tuesday, February 23rd, at 38 weeks and 2 days (early!). He has lots of hair, everywhere, and Toddler J's face, so we may have another husband clone on our hands. However, Baby E's hands are his own; he did not inherit my short stubby fingers like J did. In brief, Baby E's delivery was a thousand times better than J's, in that it was relatively short and I was conscious the whole time. E has proven to be stubborn already, coming out with a little grunt that the doctors blamed on "transitioning" and then deciding to take 5 hours, well outside the norm, to transition to being out of the womb. He had to be kept in the nursery for a while to have his blood sugar levels checked because he was "large for his gestational age," but all seems to be well there. In addition, he didn't feel the need to poop until the last possible second, which caused his doctors and his mommy some worries that he would need to stay longer in the hospital, but, fortunately, he finally got around to moving things along, and everyone arrived home together last night. Toddler J is fascinated with "his" baby and is learning how to "share" his toys without dropping them on Baby E's head. Mommy is feeling great, considering, though has had a hard time with cramping and pain management. The husband seems a little stunned, but that's normal. And Grandeur is here to help with everything, much to everyone's happiness!

Oh, yes, I am so happy all went well! Congratulations!!! Hope you can take care of that gall bladder ASAP. Cramping was much worse the 2nd time for me, esp. while nursing. I hope you are popping that ibuprofen.
